Risk Communication Basic

Assalamualaikum, salam PKP & salam ramadhan.

There are many incidents happened surrounding us, traffic accidents, attitude towards responding to risk by personal perception and marriage divorce. Most of these is effect by breakdown of communication. Research by Ajaegbu et al., (2015) proved that divorce mainly due to lack of effective communication. However, we may argue with Malaysia cause is by “org ketiga” … ehhh ye ke?

How often have you jumped in the situation that others driver didn’t utilizing their signal? What type of car that they drive? Surely, it’s not a malfunction signal ehh? A more than RM100k price tag with blow signal lamp?… this is attitude.

This is the situation of NO COMMUNICATION AT ALL. Some of the “failed communication barrriers” events claim lives.

You need to get others to know what is you move!, here is another example. Communication process in the operation room. One need to let the team know the intention. According to Parush et al., (2011), a communication is a critical task in the operation room (im trying to bring you that communication important in all aspect – this example is in the operation theatre) as it may compromise patient safety when failed to communicate to other surgery team – DURING OPERATION.

Same goes during driving, or in the mid of Emergencies and also Pandemic Crisis, like today – PKP.

Come back to basic 101 communication in OSH, say in construction industry. The practitioners may use media like toolbox as communication tools to workers, best if they have translator. And some will add signages surrounding the site. How many people follow the 110km/j in highway?, and only reduce the speed when comes to AES signage. (terbatuk jugak yg menulis nii). Anyway, speaking of risk communication. 80% of the workers is not using the same language like the OSH practitioners, thus the chances of miss communication is there. As a trainer, we will do assessment in every chapter. So, better to apply this technique by asking them. Believe me, the right answer is from the most front row seat, you only get “smile” if you ask the backbenchers. Especially to 50 ++ crowd massive toolbox talk.

The point im writing this short communication blog is to practice my writing, promo my page and share this:
